Assignment Schedule

Your homeschool books and educational materials put into an assignment sheet for you and your children to use. In template form, each area would be blank and you would fill in the daily assignments. A comprehensive assignment schedule would have every book and every daily assignment tailored to the days you wanted to teach each lesson, for the number of weeks you plan to homeschool that year.

I can use ANY homeschool curriculum or educational experience, including co-op materials, to create an assignment schedule. In general, whatever you want to use, I divide it into equal quantities for the number of weeks you want to do school.

How it Works:

To complete a homeschool assignment schedule, we initially meet in person or over the phone to discuss exactly how you want it to look. You can give me or send me the names of the books or curriculum you want to use. It works best if you copy the front of each book or workbook, as well as the table of contents, so that I can label each lesson the way it looks in the book. If you are including literature or novels, I just need the title and number of pages, and we can discuss approximately how many pages per week you want your child to read. The initial meeting takes about one hour.

After I have completed the schedule and received payment, then I email it to you as a Word document. You can then edit it as you choose, add different books or assignments as you wish. That leaves the assignment schedule completely flexible for you to change or reuse with other students. Since each family is different, and has a different number of subjects that they want me to schedule, I charge by the hour. A template can usually be done in around five hours, but scheduling an entire year for every high school course may take me 20 hours.

The HomeScholar Advantage:

For some kids, the accountability of an assignment schedule can really be a help. We have found that many kids do much MORE when they had a schedule, and much less when they didn't. An assignment schedule can provide that needed "forward momentum" in homeschooling. If you are a person who is motivated when you see a list, then it usually works well.

"Dear Lee, Your sign off "Blessings" is more true than you may realize. When I realized how much I needed some guidance from a successful homeschooler of upper level students, I decided that you would be the perfect person to call. I spent several days figuring out how to ask for your help. Can you imagine my relief when I saw your brochure? I could call you and not be begging for help, but accepting your talents!

Your positive and encouraging ways made me realize that I can succeed. You helped me stop useless duplication and time wasting. Tom was immediately more responsive and cooperative. I was not the slave driver or fun slayer, I was the person implementing a well ordered plan. You, of course, outlined all our work using the texts and courses that I had chosen. Between your organizing our study schedule and the bird clock which sings every hour, I am not the target of my son's discomfort. I am a coach and teacher instead. We have had a wonderful year.

Your newsletter has been a great help. I have forwarded it to several people who also have teen aged students, whether they homeschool or not. I'm sure that with a few follow up meetings with you I'll be able to guide my son successfully through the next few years. You're worth your weight in gold. So, Blessings to you, Lee."

"Thank you for your support and such organized, professional paper work. [My husband] was pleased (for me especially.) [My son] is glad for a schedule and likes the ending dates, goals that he has to work toward. He especially liked seeing his 4.0s with still five months left in school. I told him those numbers can be deleted and replaced! With much appreciation,"
