For science, I strongly prefer Apologia sciences. Three reasons:
- Because my younger son passed a CLEP after Apologia Biology,
- Both of my sons got a 4.0 in engineering physics after Apologia Physics
- Both were granted an exemption from taking college chemistry after Apologia chemistry in high school.
For these reasons, I know for certain that Apologia was a college prep science curriculum. I know it’s not a perfect fit for every family, because it’s written from a Christian perspective. However, I recommend Apologia even with my non-Christian clients because I believe it is such great college preparation for science.
But science is like math – it has more to do with the curriculum “fit” than the curriculum itself. There are other good science choices, just like there are other good math choices.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I did some reading on Apologia General Science for my 7th grade son and I think that I like it.
Are there any other Science curriculums that you would suggest for 7th grade?
Also, if you have any more advise on any other subject for 7th grade, I would appreciate it. I don’t know too many hs moms of older children.
