Parents with students in 7th and 8th grade often feel anxious and don’t know where to start with high school. Often their first concern is record keeping. If you are in that boat, there are some great options.
It might be best, if you live in Washington, for us to meet in person to talk about record keeping. At the end of an hour, you will probably have a great idea of how to do it yourself, or will know what is involved if I help you with it. Here is what some of my clients have said about meeting with me. My fee for consultations is $50 per hour. Because your son is in 8th grade, I strongly recommend my “Preparing to Homeschool High School Crash Course.” It’s three hours long and covers not only record keeping, but also ALL the other issues involved in homeschooling high school. I understand that some people just want an hour at a time though, and that’s fine as well.
Here are some options to consider.
- You could consult with me for one hour in person or on the phone, and cover just record keeping $50
- If you live in Washington, You could consult with me for three hours, and cover everything $150
- You could get the video about Preparing to Homeschool High School for $75 and my book Comprehensive Record Solution for $40, and together they would make a great “how to do it yourself” class.
- You could consider going to the Preparing to Homeschool HighSchool Seminar in Auburn Washington on November 14th, it’s only $40. To register contact Michelle at mm_woods@comcast.net
- You could have a telephone meeting with me (1-888-Lee-2Help) if you live out of state. It’s also $50, but there is no driving around, and it’s quicker. I can start a transcript while we have that meeting.
- You could just have me make the transcript now. I don’t recommend that for 7th and 8th graders. Even if they are doing some high school classes, you don’t really need a transcript until 9th grade. I think it would be more helpful for us just to TALK about transcripts.
- I’m writing a e-book on transcripts which should be available by Christmas, but I don’t know if that helps you right NOW.
- You could come to the PNW Homeschool College Fair and talk to me for a bit, take some classes from me, it’s all free, and then you’ll know better what you want. That happens this Saturday, 10-4:00. Here is the link. I’m teaching at 11:00 AM on College Preparation for Homeschoolers, and 2:00 PM on College Scholarships for High School Credit.
For beginners, I usually recommend some form of “Preparing to Homeschool High School” whether it’s in person or on video. I think that’s what you’ll get the most out of. But I love meeting with people in person! I’m scheduling appointments in December and January right now. . If you want one an appointment, just tell me what you want to accomplish from the list above. We’ll choose a day, you can pay online with a credit card, and I’ll email you directions to a Starbucks near Seattle, where we will meet for our appointment.
I’m sorry this is sort of confusing. I want to help parents starting their journey, but first I need to know what will help you the most.
