A Homeschool Friendly College: LeTourneau University

April 30, 2012

Colleges love homeschoolers!  Let me give you just one example:  LeTourneau University. Almost one-fifth of their current traditional student body were homeschooled for their high school experience. Many of the faculty and staff homeschool their own children.  They are so homeschool friendly, they have special perks just for homeschooling through high school.

LeTourneau University is having a Homeschool Symposium July 15-18, 2012.  They say it will be a summer event with “a few days of honest-to-goodness college preparation with students like you – at a university where homeschoolers are a major part of the campus community.  This time will be filled with informative sessions led by professionals in higher education, lively activities, and fellowship with other home school families from all over the nation!”

LeTourneau University also has a Homeschool Scholarship for new students enrolling at LeTourneau University. The criteria? “Students must be home schooled for three of the four years of high school, with one of those three years being the senior year.”  You don’t have to be captain of the football team or valedictorian of the local high school.  Only homeschoolers are eligible.

LeTourneau is not the only college that is looking for homeschoolers – there are many!  Look for ways that colleges are advertising toward you and your student.  Look in the homeschool magazines and around the homeschool conventions. You’ll be sure to find a homeschool friendly college that would LOVE to have your child on campus.

When you are applying for colleges, you will need a great homeschool transcript.  The good news is you can “do-it-yourself” and save thousands.  Discover the Total Transcript Solution.

My son and husband attended the Homeschool Symposium last year and loved it! I am proud to say my son will be attending there in the fall!
