The Problem with Parent Partnership Program

March 30, 2012

This is the time of year when that Parent Partnership Program seems much less helpful.  Extra requirements pop up, and kids can fall behind or become bored.  Feel free to homeschool independently next year.  There really IS an easier way!

Parent partnership and alternative education programs see homeschoolers as a source of income. When we use their programs, they get money. Some programs get money directly from us, other programs get money on our behalf sent from the government. Either way, they make money on us.

Any time an individual or organization accepts public money, they give up some control in exchange. If you use a parent partnership program through a public or public school for homeschooling, the school may exert some control over the education of your children.

For more information about Parent Partnership Problems, read my article: “Love with Some Strings Attached”

I had the same experience with a local ppp. The people were lovely, but I was paying them monthly and felt like I was still doing all the footwork myself. So basically, I was paying to go to meetings. :) That ended quickly but it did serve to give me perspective and confidence to continue on my own and, if I disregard my frustration level, it was a good learning experience. :)
