Sonlight is Guaranteed!

December 28, 2009

Dear Lee, Thanks SO much for responding quickly. I have used Apologia before and most likely will go back to that. Thank you… I am ordering some Owl pellets to dissect until we get the Apologia curic. ;) I am still trying to consider his English. I have heard nothing but GOOD about Sonlight. But my son doesn’t like to read. My oldest did, but not my youngest. lol  So, I am still pondering that area. Most likely I will need to consult with you Lee.  Take care, and again, thanks so much for your time.
Blessings,

Hi Debbie,

One comment about Sonlight…. they have a guarantee. I would go for it. What could it hurt? Because some non-readers end up loving it because the books are so good, you might end up converting your son into a book lover. I would try it! But if you buy, could you go through this link below, so they know that I referred you? I think the guarantee would help, since you have a feeling about Sonlight already.
SONLIGHT

Anyway, I’m glad to help! When you want to set up an appointment, just send me an email or reply to any newsletter and we will set up a time for a phone call!

    Hi Lee,

Although Sonlight is quite attractive, the price for the packages are not. What would you recommend, for single-income families?

Our plan is to use The Write Shop (writing I and II programs) for 9th and 10th grades. Then, we would like to cover American and British Lit in 11th and 12th grades? Are there any great, affordable programs, for covering our two years of literature? I know we can simply read a selection of books by different authors, learn about the authors, and write papers and essays and do it “our way”. But, if there were a great guide or affordable curriculum…then WOW! what a help that would be!

    Thanks,
    Leanne

    Hi Leanne,
Almost all homeschool families are single-income families. For beginners, I always recommend Sonlight if they can afford it at all, because it will hold their hand through the process of transitioning to homeschool. Sonlight is what I used myself, so I’m familiar with it. After using it for a while, I was completely comfortable pulling it together by myself. There is one inexpensive plan that looked good to me; Around the World in 180 Days. Here is a blog post about that:

I don’t usually recommend products unless I have used it myself. There are MANY great curriculum choices. As always, it’s about what fits your family more than anything else.
    Blessings,
    Lee

Just wanted to mention that there are alot of used sonlight cores out there that can be picked up for much less than new, 1/2 price even. Because sonlight uses real books they can be used and then sold to another family. If you can’t afford to purchase new I would definately recommend you look for a used core, just be sure it is as complete as possible.

    Blessings
