Last weekend was a huge celebration of babies. My nephew’s baby was dedicated on Sunday, and on Saturday there were two baby showers at church! I was excited, and I had my presents all ready to go. In the end, though, I was just too busy to attend all three events.
I hope you realize that there are a million wonderful homeschooling experiences, but that you can’t possibly do them ALL. There aren’t enough hours in the day to do every wonderful thing that comes your way! Let go of the idea that you have to take advantage of every class, experience, or free textbook. I can’t do it all, and you can’t do it all either. It’s OK – that’s what being human is all about!

And sometimes, life is to short *not* to take advantage of opportunities. The sunny weather after days of gloom and busy-ness drew my children outside like a magnet. We *could* have done more school today, but I have a feeling they learned more from watching a baby garter snake shed its skin. I don’t think they would have absorbed any of my teaching while the sunshine was beckoning. We laminated the skin, and now we have a wonderful specimen for our collection of “nature stuff.” We also spent a good long time contemplating the colors within wind-whipped waves at the beach. Tomorrow we can start school with better attitudes.
