Help! I’m trapped at home with my family – and I simply couldn’t be happier about it!
Homeschooling has wonderful academic benefits, but right now I’m enjoying the other benefit – a closely knit family that actually enjoys each other. It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of academic preparation, but don’t lose sight of your more-important 5-year plan.
The HomeScholar 5-Year Plan
In five years, we will still be a close and loving family!
Pretty simple, huh? College preparation, calculus, and economics will not seem as important anymore. In the end, your goal is to have a close relationship with your children for the rest of your life.
A few flakes of snow, and Seattle has come to a complete standstill. Highways are parking lots, people abandon their cars. Bus route compromised. Seattleites just does not know how to handle snow! In our defense, I have to explain that our snow is much warmer and wetter than other snow, so it’s really more slippery that crunchy. I have driven in the snow in Idaho and Montana, and I can tell you it’s just not the same thing! But the result is a wonderful snow day! More precious than when my children were younger, this snow day is preventing my grown adults from leaving home today. Our busy lives have come to a grinding stop.
And WOW! It’s wonderful! My children! Here at home with me!
I know teenagers can be frustrating (BELIEVE me I know!) But in the midst of your frustration, try to keep that 5 year plan in mind. The five year plan is just another reason that homeschooling high school can be the best preparation for life! Later, when you get trapped at home with your children, you can be thankful, too!

Still have some Christmas shopping to do? Consider these gift suggestions. You can buy them on Amazon, so you don’t have to drive in the snow either!
