Do you think David was a homeschooling dad? I think that virtually everyone homeschooled in the Biblical era, so I’m guessing so. It sure seemed like it, especially when I read Psalm 142, which my NIV Quiet Time Bible labels as “A Prayer of Desperation.” That title alone indicates David homeschooled, don’t you think? Here is what David wrote. See if you have ever felt this way before.
Psalm 142:1-2
I cry aloud to the LORD;
I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.
I pour out my complaint before him;
before him I tell my trouble.
So here is my sage advice; when you are having a bad day, go ahead and let it all out. Tell God about it. He’s heard it all. Think about this for a second, the Lord actually KNOWS every single homeschooler personally! You KNOW he has heard it all. So go ahead, and cry aloud to the Lord and complain away. Just remember the last part of that prayer of desperation:
Psalm 142:5
I cry to you, O LORD;
I say, “You are my refuge.”
David wrote this Psalm when he was in the cave, being attacked by loved ones and family. If you are in a cave yourself (whether your family is attacking or not) it’s OK to cry aloud to the Lord. Just know that He is your refuge in times of trouble.
