When it’s the Stanford Achievement Test!
If you are used to giving assessments each year while homeschooling, you may be familiar with the Stanford Achievement Tests. It measures ability level in kindergarten through twelfth grade. It is absolutely, positively NOT the college admission examination called the SAT. The college admission test is just for high school students, and it’s just for college admission. It used to be called the “Scholastic Aptitude Test” but now the acronym doesn’t mean anything at all, and the name “SAT” is just SAT, nothing more. That makes it pretty difficult for parents who are new to homeschooling high school, when they are trying to figure out what these tests are all about! So here it is in a nut shell:
- Stanford Achievement Test = SAT for elementary, middle school, and high school
- SAT = The College Board SAT is for college admission exam only. Read more about it here.
