My children are not yet high school age but you are such an encouragement to keep me going. I always wanted to HS through high school but wasn’t sure if I could.

Your article on medical school or nursing school was very helpful! I am a nurse. My oldest wants to be a doctor so that helped me help her decide which would be better for her.

Thanks for all your hard work.

We debated for many long months before deciding to home school our boys. They were unhappy and failing in public school, but we doubted our ability to do for them what needed to be done. Because of Homescholar we have found so many resources and such support that we know that, without a doubt, we will be able to provide the education and support that our children need for as long as they choose to home school with us!

I am new to the The Home Scholar program. I spoke with Lee this morning for the first time and I was so encouraged by our phone conversation. I have made A LOT of mistakes while homeschooling highschool with my first daughter. Lee calmed my fears about homeschooling my other daughter next year for highschool. With Lee’s help and support, my homeschooling will now have direction and accountability. I look forward and appreciate ALL the encouragement and help that Lee will provide me during our highschool journey.

Our family has had a lot of trials going on the past couple of years and as we’re approaching our oldest going into high school next fall, I’ve been thinking more and more of putting her in school. I don’t want to (and she doesn’t want to) and I wasn’t sure how it would add to what else is going on, but seriously doubted my being able to figure out what needs to be covered and keeping good enough records to produce a college ready transcript. I have poured over your site, read/reviewed every blog entry and feel like I can prepare her for college/life by homeschooling high school. I now know how many hours are needed for a credit, know that Washington State history is not a requirement – although she’s getting some by volunteering at a nearby historical site, and in general have a much better idea of what we need to do to homeschool her and her two siblings through high school and continue to grow as a family instead of sending them off to high school at the time that they really need reassurance here at home. We have also contacted a prospective college to find out their homeschool requirements to get an idea from a college’s prospective. I will be attending several homeschool seminars here in Washington to learn even more and watch for your blog-entry of the day to find out what wonderful new bit of information you have for all of us. Thank you!

Wow! High School? Home schooling high school? From the beginning, people would ask, “How long are you going to do this?” Each September I would face the onslaught of (negative)comments/questions about when I was going to “put them in school”. Then we approached high school. Oh my! While I have always been an eclectic homeschooler (a little of this, a little of that, a little of their curriculum, a little of curriculum I wrote, and all the tweaking to make it work), high school presented the challenges of now meeting guidelines for graduating an “educated” young person.
The greatest curriculum in the world won’t help you on your worst days. On those days, I must know in my heart that God has lead us and will continue to lead us.

That’s where Lee, The Home Scholar fits in. The blog, the mini-course (5 biggest mistakes),the special report, monthly newsletter, articles, dig deeper links
(Preparing Home schoolers for College), and free consulting have been the encouragement that lets me know that home schooling high school is not only possible, but a reality for someone else, and for us!

I especially love how the blog is in my mailbox at night. Sometimes I take a peek and read it before bed, the dose of encouragement I need to end a day. The testimonials of those who know you and those who don’t, stand as a witness to what you are doing to provide a path for those of us that are following the road to home school through high school, right to the end.
Like the “Hare and the Tortoise”, I may be tempted to stop and rest.(The Hare) (Send them to “out school”, as my children call it.) Or be the tortoise who perseveres to the end, despite all the naysayers (including my own thoughts and words).

The Home Scholar provides the right dose of what I need to guide me to my Lord and Saviour, who ultimately called us to home school. Lee lets us know it can be done, with suggestions to guide us. The Lord directs our family’s steps.

  7. Dawn says:

Our oldest is quickly approaching 8th grade with high school peaking around the corner. In having had an opportunity to review many of the products from The Homescholar, I came to realize that my instincts on how to meet my children’s needs are truly messages from God that should be honored. Along with this realization, I have also learned an incredible amount about what colleges and college entrance exams will require, helping me to get a better focus on jumpstart on our plans through high school. I feel like we are truly approaching high school years with a purpose and focus.

In addition to schooling our own children, I am the director of our local homeschool group that reaches into 45 more homes that represent a little over 100 students. Our program goes from preschool through high school. I felt very unqualified at the beginning of this year in taking over the director role in not knowing how to minister to the families that were already in the midst of their high school experiences. Our family is still not there, but The Homescholar has provided with tools in my toolboxes and a “go to” person in Lee to assist these families in what is unchartered territory for our own family personally.

Thanks for all that you do and for following God’s call into this specific and much needed ministry to families.

I’m not sure how I first heard about Lee and her business/ministry, but I listened to her live on a webcast a few months ago and took five pages of notes! What a relief to know that someone has my back and has successfully gone before those of us in and approaching the high school years. After joining the Silver (?)Club, I have now filled two huge 3-ring binders with pertinent information. I feel SO much more prepared and ready to conquer this seemingly overwhelming challenge of homeschooling high school. You are a Godsend, Lee!

Today I was with a bunch of young homeschooling moms who were discussing curriculum, etc. for their elementary aged children (I have one of those too). After hsing 3 older children for over 11 years now, I honestly told them to just have fun during the elementary years, make sure they can read, write and do basic math by 8th grade. It is the High School years that count (ie go on the “permanent record”)and when they finally reach that point (with an excellent foundation) they can just contact Lee and feel secure knowing they have given their children the best education possible! That may sound simplistic, but I truly think we hs moms stress over the details and miss the forest for the trees.

This conference is a cool idea! I would love the opportunity to sit in my cozy bed and “attend” this amazing conference! Thanks for the chance, Lee.

You have really helped me feel empowered and confident. Sometimes panic hits and I think, “What do I think I am DOING? I’m not qualified for this. What if I screw up my girls?” Then I’ll see a blog post or note on Facebook and I’ll remember I’m not alone. Even the President has a cabinet to advise him and is not expected to go it alone. Together with God, my husband, and my homeschool friends and mentors, I know I can complete the journey successfully.

  10. Julie Bailey says:

Home schooling is a mixed bag of blessings. Treasured time with my children, learning new things alongside them, and teaching our values and beliefs is coupled with misunderstandings from family and friends about our goals and purposes in this endeavor. It’s easy to feel alone sometimes. I have been blessed by Lee’s free call consultations, by her consistently encouraging blogs and free articles, and by the teaching DVD’s we’ve purchased. My husband took Spring Break off from work this week to watch the “Homeschooling Through High School” DVD with me and our daughter so we could all be “on the same page” in planning our high school adventure. Lee is not just a valuable resource, but is an encouraging friend to the home school community. We are blessed by this ministry.

The HomeScholar Ministry has helped me immensely. I felt very intimidated and overwhelmed before finding this site. I feel confident about the road we are following. Most of all I feel confident that I can turn our schooling into transcripts. That is what I call encouragement. These resources have been the practical help I needed. The new monthly webinars are exactly what any mother of a high schooler needs.
I actually already have a ticket and am hoping to win one for a homeschooling friend.

Your HomeScholar Ministry helped me to see that High School will be do-able at home. Mainly through the grace of GOD for allowing us to Homeschool and helping to give me the abilities and knowledge my children will need.
Thanks for sharing all of your hard work and letting us glean from your rewards.

We have four boys and our oldest will begin highschool next year. Although we have homeschooled from the beginning, the highschool “block” seemed different and scary…the official four years. I was uncertain and not very confident about homeschooling these years. After much stress and searching God led me to Lee’s site. Lee has given me so much encouragement and even after my first “free” ten minute phone call with her I felt confident and filled with a whole new perspective. Her personal experinece and the information she has is so valuable. Even within our family, so many young lives will benefit from her help. We have become Gold Club members and are looking forward to working with her on this great journey!!! Thank you Lee.

We have just started high school this year and the articles from Lee Binz haven been SO helpful! She has given me the confidence I need to homeschool through high school! Her examples and encouragement are priceless! And the fact that she makes herself available for phone counseling is amazing! I am SURE I will be drawing on her resources many times during the next 6 years of highschooling my kids. Thanks a million, Lee!

We have homeschooled our four kids from the start and when the eldest turned 13, the high school panic mode kicked it up a notch. In trying to find the best way to do this-whether to send her to public school or stick with what we’re doing, this site was God sent. It has taken some of the anxiety away about how to handle the high school years that loom ahead. Thank you so much for your time, expertise and encouragement for those of us that have much trepidation about this monumental homeschool journey.

I am so thankful to have found you through Old schoolhouse mag. God willing we will officially begin homeschooling this summer. It is so helpful to have the end in view and I hope we can learn a lot about high school because by God’s grace we want to provide the right foundation in the early years for her to excel in the later ones. Thanks!

I am new to your website. I like knowing there is somewhere to go to answer all my questions about homeschooling high school. My daughter will be in ninth grade next year and this year is actually our first year of homeschooling. So I find myself very overwhelmed about homeschooling in general but especially about making sure we do it “right” for high school.

Dear Lee, It is great to read the list of many who have benefited from your advice! I remember several years ago when listened to your audio book, Homeschooling Gifted Children, I cried from relief. I finally found someone who had been through it before, understood what we were going through and was willing to help. I am so looking forward to coming to the MidWest Homeschooling conference next week to meet you. I am coming not to ask a burning question or get advice but mostly to meet a friend! Please give the free ticket to the Old School House Expo to someone else since I am coming to the MidWest conference. I just wanted to jump in and add my thanks!

I am a missionary living in Eastern Europe, homeschooling my three teenage daughters. I do not have much physical support here, so reading your newsletters, articles, freebies, etc is very encouraging and helpful to me. I am always accessing your site to see what else there is that can help me continue this journey and not give up. Homeschooling high school is definitely a challenge, but with the Lords help and the help of folks like you, I know that it is attainable. Thank you for all your work in helping to support us home school families. Blessings…Michele in Macedonia
