College Scholarship Plan
Extensive internet search for high school and college scholarship opportunities, including an in-depth telephone interview with the student to assess their interests. Applicable scholarships are identified and prepared in an organized notebook for your use. Scholarships are organized by due date and estimated time of completion. As an option, you may want the scholarship opportunities organized into a schedule of writing assignments that you can use for homeschool English credit.

How
it works:
The scholarship search requires that you make an appointment time so that I may talk to the student on the phone for about 1-2 hours, where I fill out a long survey of their interests. Then I search various sources online until I find scholarships that might fit their gifts and needs. I organize the scholarships into a long list, arranged by the date they are due. Some students are very into art, and I find them art project competitions, while other scholarships are just based on essays. Some scholarships are based on an application alone, which are more like a job application than a real writing project. Each application will be some work for you and the student, but the amount of effort will vary. The scholarship search will usually turn up 15-25 different scholarships appropriate for your student, depending on interests and abilities. Once I get to know the student, I can usually give some hints and tips about college applications and admission as well.
